Hailing as a chartered engineer with formal legal training was then 25 years as a venture capitalist.  Paul specialises in early stage technology companies many of which, like i-Prophets he brings his depth of experience as an executive board member.

Individual Mission

Having been and still being involved with a number of technology-based ventures I can help the i-Prophets team to expect to be surprised without fear.  The surprises often present as problems and disappointments but also contain the seeds of serendipity. 

Confidence is the cornerstone in capturing these opportunities.  I will strive to create a balance so that the business will deliver simultaneous benefits for its customers, for its investors and indeed for the management team themselves.

Background

After graduating with an honours degree I became chartered as: a Civil Engineer; a Water and Environmental Manager; and an Arbitrator.  In each case my professional qualification was achieved within the shortest period possible.

I was recruited by 3i in 2000 and have been involved with venture capital and v.c. led projects for much of my career since that time.  For 15 years I ran an early stage technology investment fund that saw a range of realisations through from trade sale to main market listing.  I have served with a number of subsidiary boards oversees and am well acquainted with cross border transactions especially with the USA.

Outside i-Prophets

My family are grown-up and independent.  I live with my wife of 35 years quietly in Cheshire where I was born.  We both work at maintaining a modicum of fitness and practice Pilate's.  Having been dog owners throughout we both enjoy walking and spending time in the English countryside.
