Manchester Science Park , Manchester

office building

Landmark manchester business location

As a pioneering development and as the current chair of the European Science Park Association, Manchester Science Park was almost expected to be at the forefront of design and sustainable management.

With a constantly changing physical environment to accommodate tenant needs meant that records were a challenge to keep up to date. The solution would be in the form of digitalenergy with a focus on the TM31 building log book module.

"With a constantly changing tenant base from various sectors our energy usage is never a constant, i-Prophets Energy Services are helping us to track the changes to ensure tenants are charged by their usage and not more." David McTear , Facilities Manager, Manchester Science Parks

Understanding of needs

The starting point came with a proof of concept within the head office of MSP Ltd, the managing company of the Science Park, based at Kilburn House, one of the buildings that make up the campus.

Through an initial audit, both of physical audit of the building and an audit of the available records provided the basis for the creation of a concise document to enable the management of the facility in terms of maintenance and energy.

High level approach

Impressed by the proof of concept the company instructed i-Prophets to produce building log books for the other 8 buildings on the campus. Learning from the population of Kiburn House MSP also engaged the buy in from its mechanical and electrical subcontractors to ensure they were also aware of the new philosophy.
