CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
The Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC EES) official began on 1st April 2010 when participant registration opened. The scheme, requiring mandatory carbon trading between participants, captures all organisation's with at least one Half Hourly (HH) Settled metering point, with full participation required where HH Electricity consumption is >6,000MwH.
Key Milestones
The registration period is between April and September 2010 and from then on all participants in the CRC must be able to accurately measure and report their carbon emissions in order to avoid penalties for submitting incorrect data.
From April 2011 organisation's in the CRC will need to set an emissions target and buy allowances sufficient to cover annual total CO2 emissions. At the end of each year total emissions will be calculated and data submitted to the government along with an evidence pack containing detailed energy records.
